Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the 3-day Global Investors Meet (GIM) at Bengaluru (Nov.2 to 4), farmers under the banner of Samyukta Horata-Karnataka will stage a massive demonstration at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Nov.2.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, the Organisation Convenor and KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra alleged that the GIM is being held to give our agricultural land, water and other resources to Corporates and MNCs under the pretext of investment and job creation.
Maintaining that the GIM is nothing but an act of slavery as only Corporates and MNCs benefit out of it, he termed the GIM as a tool for looting precious lands, water and other natural resources.
Contending that the Government is holding GIM at a time when elections are round the corner, Nagendra alleged that it is a Government ploy that aims to create an illusion of jobs and opportunities for youths. But the fact is that events like GIM will only help Coporates, agencies and agents, who benefit a lot from such events, he argued. As such, the Samyukta Horata Karnataka is holding a massive convention at Bengaluru on Nov.2 in order to register protest against GIM, he said adding that thousands of farmers from across the State will take part.
KRRS office-bearers Hosur Kumar, Hoskote Basavaraj and P. Marankaiah were present at the press meet.
