Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K.M. Gayathri said that Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) and Zinc Corners have been opened at all the Health Centres in the district.
She was speaking after inaugurating the District-level Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF), Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully and National New-born Week organised by the District Administration and Department of Health and Family Welfare for the year 2023 on Nov. 15.
“A total of 2,41,106 beneficiaries in the age group of below five years have been identified in the district. The ASHA and Anganwadi workers are ready to distribute ORS packets and Zinc tablets to them,” added Gayathri.
The general public, elected representatives, religious heads and NGOs should participate in the initiative. The public should not lend ear to any misleading words and the parents should actively take part by giving zinc tablets to their children aged below five years on the advice of the doctors, under IDCF programme, she stated.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy said “The IDCF programme for the year 2023-24 will be conducted from Nov. 15 to 28, SAANS programme from Nov. 12 to Dec. 29 and National Newborn Week from Nov. 15 to 21.”
District Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Officer Dr. M.S. Jayanth, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. S. Gopinath, District Leprosy Officer Dr. Brinda and the staff of School Education and Literacy Department and Health and Family Welfare Department were present.
