Orthodontists’ Week observed

Mysuru: The Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics celebrated ‘Orthodontic Week’ recently. The celebrations began with various competitions for the students, like flower carpet competition, smile photography contest etc.

The Orthodontic Week culminated with Orthodontists’ Day celebration along with two-day CDE programme and Clinical Photography Workshop. As a social responsibility initiative measure, three students were issued kits and were treated free of cost.

The chief guest for the CDE programme was Dr. Sridhar Premkumar, Professor of the Department of Orthodontics, Tamil Nadu Government Dental College, Chennai, who also spoke on ‘Conventional and Unconventional Management of Class II Malocclusion.’

Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS University, was the guest of honour. The other guest speakers were Dr. M. Aravind, Reader, Department of Orthodontics, KLE Dental College, Bengaluru and Dr. H.P. Jaishankar, Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, JSS Dental College and Hospital, Mysuru, who deliberated on ‘Lingual Orthodontics – An overview’ and ‘CBCT in Orthodontics’ respectively.

Dr. Kuldeep D’Mello was the  course director for the Clinical Photography workshop who spoke extensively on the ‘Basics on Digital Camera & Photography’ followed by demonstration of the Clinical Photography.

The CDE programme was attended by faculty & staff from various colleges across Karnataka like- Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences, VS Dental College, Hassanambha Dental College, Hassan and Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet.
