Our gratitude to selfless service of frontline warriors

April 12, 2020

Sir,

Coronavirus (Covid-19) is the topic of discussion in the media and amongst the people — outside and inside the houses. The crisis created by this virus is very alarming and the number of cases is increasing day by day.

World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus gave the name to this virus Covid-19 [Co – for Corona, Vi – for Virus, D – for Disease and the year – 2019].

Our Indian Government has taken a quick action to face the onset of Corona Pandemic so India is better prepared. According to WHO Chief, India is following the right strategy and our testing facility is scientific and robust.

India decided to press the panic button of the wide scale lockdown before the condition went out of control. To contain the spread of virus, social distancing and staying home is the only answer. People should follow the rules and be disciplined with dedication. This step is of fundamental importance for the good of each individual, his or her family and the country.

With Covid -19 taking centrestage, the lockdown which was necessary has affected people from all walks of life. While most of the people have accepted the seriousness of the pandemic, there are many exceptions too. No doubt this fight against the virus by the whole world has put a stamp on the history of the globe.

The Government has introduced quite a many relief schemes for the poor. A number of NGOs and private organisations are involved in the humanitarian service to help the needy. It is praiseworthy to see the magnanimity of people — so many Good Samaritans.

With all this in the background, some like-minded people in our circle are helping financially and emotionally all those who have served and are serving us.

We are also witness to the selfless service of so many frontline warriors, who need all our gratitude and support in their noble work. Let us offer our prayers to God to safeguard these Corona Warriors, who are risking their lives — the Police, Medicos, Paramedics, Government employees and others.

In this hour of crisis, will we see a silver lining in the form of some invention for the benefit of humanity?
