Out of syllabus questions; grace marks for students

August 29, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Higher Education Department is planning to give grace marks to students who wrote final semester examination following the complaints of ‘out of syllabus’ questions.

The students had a shock of their life when they saw some out of syllabus questions in final semester exam held on Friday.

They brought this to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr C. N. Ashwathnarayana, who in turn contacted Prof. Karisiddappa, Vice-Chancellor, VTU regarding the mess-up.

Later, the VC admitted to lapses on the part of University. Following outcry from students, Dr Ashwathnarayana said students would be given grace marks.

Committee setup

Meanwhile, Prof. Karisiddappa said a Committee was constituted to examine how such a big blunder happened while setting questions for the final semester VTU exam. The probe would also reveal whether lecturers concerned had followed guidelines over the selection of questions.
