Outreach Programme on Income Tax held

Mysuru: A one-day outreach programme  by the Income Tax (I-T) Department, in association with Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Mysuru Branch and Institute of Chartered Tax Practitioners of India (ICTPI), was held at a private hotel on B.N. Road here on Monday.

Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (JCIT), Mysuru, Kalpalatha Rajan, who spoke after inaugurating the programme, stressed on the need for creating more awareness of Income Tax structure and slabs among the citizens. She also explained the salient features of Advance Tax, which is the amount of Income Tax that is paid much in advance rather than a lump-sum payment at the year end.

Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax M.H. Hussain emphasised on the importance of filing I-T returns by professionals and others.

Detailing the advantages of filing timely I-T returns and the disadvantage of non-filing of the same, he underlined the importance of having an ITR (Income Tax Return), which is a consolidated statement of Income, Expenses and Tax Payable for the financial year.

The programme featured a panel discussion on ‘Tax Audit Under Section 44(a) &(b) of Income Tax Act’ and other I-T related subjects.

Ladava, Chartered Accountant of Mysuru H. Ramachandra, Ballari District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice-President N. Yashavantha Raj, ICTPI PRO D.M. Bhattad and others were present.
