Over 300 take part in Chamundi Hill climbing competition

Mysore/Mysuru: More than 300 people took part in the Chamundi Hill climbing competition, organised jointly by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, General Thimmaiah National Adventure Academy and Dasara Sports Sub-committee yesterday.

The competitions were inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Dr. Shalini Rajneesh.

Winners

Men: Anil Kumar (First), Tirumala (Second) and Gautam (Third).

Women: Usha (First), Neelamma (Second) and Bhumika (Third).

Under-16 Junior Boys: Varun B. Raju (First), Dinesh (Second) and Guruprasad (Third).

Junior Girls: Sonika (First), Deepika (Second) and Vandana (Third).

The winners in both Men and Women category were given a cash prize of Rs.5,000, Rs.3,000 and Rs.2,000 respectively. Medals and certificates were also distributed.

Winners in Junior Boys and Girls categories were given Rs.3,000, Rs.2,000 and Rs.1,000 respectively. Medals and certificates were also given.

Dasara Sahatotsava Sub-Committee Vice-President Shivaraj distributed the prizes to the winners at Chamundi Hill Government School.

The participants were provided drinking water and breakfast. An ambulance was also stationed in case of emergency.

Dasara Sports Sub-Committee Secretary T.R. Rohit Ganghadhar, Joint Director Subhash Chandra, Assistant Director (Shivamogga) Manjunathswamy, Ramanagara Rock Climbing Centre Manager Muniraj and others were present on the occasion.
