Over 400 Karatekas spar at National-level Championship

The two-day 19th Shorin Kai National Karate Championship, organised by Okinawa Karate-Do Shorin Ryu Shorin Kai India, began at the Mysore University Gymnasium Hall here yesterday.

A total of 434 karatekas from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and from different parts of Karnataka like Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu are taking part in the Tournament that was inaugurated by Kautilya Vidyalaya Principal Dr. L. Savitha.

UoM Department of Physical Education Director (in-Charge) Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Corporator Savitha Suresh, Police Inspector B.S. Prakash, St. Joseph High School (Bannimantap) Head Mistress Sr. Geethika, Mysore Sports Karate Association N. Shankara, Tournament Organising Committee President T.K. Sukumaran, Okinawa Karate Do Shorin Ryu Shorin Kai Association Chief Kyoshi S. Sunil Kumar and others were present.
