Mysuru: A total of 4,109 cases were disposed of at the day-long National Lok Adalat for quick settlement of pending cases held at the two Court complexes in city and across all taluk centre in the district on Saturday.
A total of 12,162 cases were taken up for hearing, which included pending civil and criminal cases involving motor accident claims, matrimonial disputes, land acquisition cases, service benefit disputes, Bank recovery suits, labour disputes, cheque bounce cases and electricity & water bill disputes.
Out of the 12,162 cases, 245 bank recovery suits, 591 criminal compoundable offence cases, six labour disputes, 139 motor vehicle accident cases, 25 matrimonial disputes, 400 cheque bounce cases, 691 civil cases and 2,012 other cases were settled through 51 sittings.
Saturday’s Lok Adalat succeeded in settling claims totalling Rs.31.65 crore, beating the claims settled (Rs.21.23 crore) at the previous Adalat held on July 13.
Saturday’s National Lok Adalat, jointly organised by Karnataka Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), was witness to 15 differing couples getting re-united.
Out of the 25 matrimonial dispute cases that came up for hearing, 15 cases were settled as the couples agreed to re-unite after forgetting their differences.
Principal District and Sessions Judge S.K. Vontigodi, who is also the DLSA Chairman, gave some advice to the re-united couples and wished them a happy life.
All the re-united couples were presented with bouquets and blessed at a simple ceremony held in the Court premises, in which Judge and DLSA Member-Secretary B.P. Devamane, Principal Family Court Judge Shanti Yadav, Judge N.S. Patil and other Judges were present.
The Fourth and the last National Lok Adalat this year will be held on Dec.14.
