Over 4,500 cases settled in first National Lok Adalat of the year

Mysore/Mysuru: In the first National Lok Adalat of the year held at the city Law Courts on Saturday, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) disposed of 4,518 pre-litigation and pending cases.

A total of 12,207 cases came up for settlement before the Lok Adalat, out of which 4,518 were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs.18.64 crore.

Cases related to Bank recoveries, criminal compoundable offences, electricity and water bills, labour dispute, land acquisition, MACT(Motor Accident Claims Tribunal) cases, matrimonial disputes, Negotiable Instruments Act cases, other civil cases, Revenue and service matters relating to pay, allowances and retirement benefits were heard.

While 248 out of the 3,112 pre-litigation cases were disposed of with a total settlement of Rs.2.71 crore; 4,270 of the 9,095 pending cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.15.93 crore, amounting to a overall settlement of Rs.18.64 crore during Saturday’s Lok Adalat in the city.
