Mysuru: There has been an overwhelming response for the annual summer camp for school and college students conducted by the city Zoo. The camp is conducted in two batches each with a strength of 50 students from tomorrow till May 8 and from May 10 to 17. Already 100 applications have been issued in just three days with many students in the waiting list.
The camp gives a good information on environment protection and on wild life and in general biosphere.
With a fee of Rs. 300, a student of each batch is provided with a T-shirt, a cap, identity card, a handbook with full details of Zoo and the camp agenda. The camp is open for students from 6th standard to II PUC.
Briefing Star of Mysore on the summer camp, Zoo Executive Director K. Kamala Karikalan said that the participants would initially be taken around the Zoo to get a first-hand information followed by living and food habits of animals, dangers of visitors teasing and feeding animals, wild life act, interaction with animal-keepers, water conservation, visit to veterinary hospital and Karanji Lake and many more.
