H.M. Bhandavya from Mandya and Priyanka Prabhakar from Bengaluru, have been picked in the Indian basketball squad for the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang from Aug.18 to Sept.2. Usha Rani of Karnataka State Police, Bengaluru, has also been selected to represent Indian Women’s Kabaddi team for the Asian Games.
Keremane K. Govindappa (75), a resident of Bogadi 2nd Stage, passed away yesterday in city. A native of Moornad in Kodagu, he leaves behind son Dr. Amarnath, daughters Ashamanjari and Sandhyamanjari, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grand children and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed at his farm in Kumarabeedu on Mysuru-Gaddige Road yesterday.
Puttamadamma (70), mother of Congress leader Chinnamballi Mahadevu and a resident of Gowrishankar Nagar in city, passed away yesterday following heart attack. She leaves behind two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill here this morning, according to family sources.
