Pahalgam terror attack: Mysuru CPI(M), Kannada activists condemn, stage protests

April 29, 2025

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Local Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) — CPI(M) — held a protest last evening, condemning the killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Demonstrators lit candles to honour the victims of the terrorist attack.

Protesters gathered at Ramaswamy Circle, raising slogans against the Central Government and demanding peace in Kashmir. Chants of “No war, we want peace” echoed as they accused the Government of failing to curb terrorism.

CPI(M) District Secretary Jagadeesh Surya addressed the crowd, condemning the tragic loss of innocent lives. The attack, which claimed around 26 tourists, has plunged the nation into grief. The party extended condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Criticising intelligence failures, protesters questioned why no prior warnings were issued despite the Government claims of monitoring terrorism. They demanded stricter counter-terrorism measures and a transparent investigation, urging the Central Government to prioritise humanitarian concerns over political agendas.

Prominent attendees included CPI(M) Mysuru Local Committee Secretary N. Subramanya and Members Rajendra, Mehboob, Jayaram, Balaji Rao, Balram, L. Jagannath, Vinayaka, Subramanya, Krishnappa and others.
