Painting, essay competitions held at Kukkarahalli Lake

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar said that the aim of conducting such drawing, painting and essay competitions is to create awareness about environment among school children and the occasion of celebrating World Environment Day is the right time to inculcate such thoughts in their minds.

He was speaking after inaugurating the drawing painting and essay competition for school children organised as part of the World Environment Day by the District Administration in association with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board at Kukkarahallikere premises, here this morning. 500 students from 33 schools participated with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

“World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 and the prizes to the winners of the competition will be distributed on that day,” he said.
