The ‘Sound and Light’ Show at Mysore Palace has been temporarily suspended from today (Mar. 30) till Apr. 5, according to T.S. Subramanya, Deputy Director of the Mysore Palace Board.According to the press note, the Show is suspended in the wake of preparations for the UgadiSangeethotsava, organised by the Palace Board, scheduled to be held in the Palace premises. The ‘Sound and Light’ Show illustrates the history of Mysore — life and times of Yaduraya, his successors and the reign of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, the last Maharaja of the erstwhile Mysore State.
The Show is in both Kannada and English languages. While Kannada version is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the English version of the Show is on Fridays. On Saturdays, both Kannada and English version are played. English version is between 7 pm and 8 pm and the entry fee for adults is Rs. 90 and for children Rs. 40. Kannada version is from 8.15 pm to 9.15 pm and the fee is Rs. 70 for adults and Rs. 30 for children.The Palace will be illuminated for 15 minutes from 9 pm on working days. There will be no ‘Sound and Light’ Show on Sundays and on Govt. holidays. However, there will be illumination from 7 pm to 8 pm on Sundays and on Government holidays.
