Pandavapura boy part of gold-winning Indian Kho-Kho team

  • He is the only player from Karnataka to represent country in Kho-Kho Championship held at Malaysia

K. Varun Kumar, a first year B.Com student of STG First Grade College, Chinakurali, Pandavapura, Mandya district, was part of the Indian Kho-Kho team which bagged gold medal in the Kho-Kho Championship held at Malaysia recently.

Varun Kumar, who hails from a farmer family of Kyathanahalli, Pandavapura, in Mandya district, is the son of K.V. Rashmi (single parent), a tailor by profession and was the only player from Karnataka to represent the country in the International level.

“I was part of a recent selection camp at Bansberia in West Bengal, where around 300 chosen players from across the country participated for final selection. It feels great to have made it to the final 15, and I am proud that I represented India on an international platform,” he said.

The 41st Junior National Kho-Kho Championship 2022-23 was organised by West Bengal Kho Kho Association under the aegis of Kho-Kho Federation of India, recognised by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, affiliated to International Kho-Kho Federation, Asian Kho-Kho Federation and Indian Olympic Association from Dec. 26 to 30, 2022 at Khamarpara Sishu Sangha Ground, Bansberia, District Hooghly, West Bengal.

STG College Chairman C.S. Puttaraju, CEO C.P. Shivaraju, Administrator Nivedita Nagesh, Principal Dr. Nishanth A. Naidu, PED R. Nagendra, teaching and non-teaching staff have congratulated Varun Kumar for his achievement.
