Panel Discussion on Civil & Infrastructure Engineering at VVIET

Mysore/Mysuru: A panel discussion on the transition from traditional Civil Engineering to the emerging field of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering will be held at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology (VVIET) tomorrow (Apr. 13) from 11.15 am to 1.15 pm.

The programme gains significance as the institution is set to introduce Civil & Infrastructure Engineering from the upcoming academic year, with an intake of 60 students. The discussion will bring together experts to deliberate on the urgent need to realign engineering education with evolving global demands.

Experts are expected to highlight how the new discipline goes beyond conventional Civil Engineering by integrating transportation, utilities and digital infrastructure for sustainable urban development.

Sustainability and climate resilience will form a major part of the deliberations. The panel will examine the importance of eco-friendly construction practices, green buildings, efficient resource management and flood mitigation strategies.

Technological advancements such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things will be explored for their growing influence on modern infrastructure planning and execution.

The panel members include Shashank, Assistant Engineer, Department of Town and Country Planning, Government of Karnataka; Prem Sagar, Founder and CEO Prem Constructions, Mysuru; Sneha J. Nayak, QA and QC Engineer, Prestige Group of Constructions, Bengaluru and H.N. Rajendra Prasad, Assistant Professor.
