Papers invited for Intl. Conference on UN Sustainable Development Goals at St. Philos

October 26, 2017

Mysuru: St. Philomena’s College, Bannimantap, is organising an International Conference on ‘Knowledge Partnerships to Advance UN Sustainable Development Goals’ on Nov.17 and 18.

The conference aims to explore knowledge partnership and cooperation between UN system and institutions of higher learning especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

In the year 2000, the United Nations proposed 8 millennium goals. However, in 2015, countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2016, the Paris Agreement on climate change entered into force, addressing the need to limit the rise of global temperatures.

Governments, businesses and civil society together with the United Nations are mobilising efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Agenda by 2030.

As an Interdisciplinary Conference open to participants from engineering, management, social science and natural science disciplines, discussions and outcomes will be focused on ways to advance the SDGs through knowledge partnerships. This conference is a sequel to the international conference organised by St. Philos in 2015 on ‘Climate Change: The inconvenient truths.’

Academicians, research scholars, NGOs and representatives from corporate sector interested in participating in this conference or presenting papers in the form of project proposals may contact the Conference Coordinators Dr. Ruth Shantha Kumari on Mob:  +91 94449086598 or  Ronald Prakash Cutinha on Mob: +91 9880191303 or Harinakshi on Mob: +91 9480275275 or e-mail: [email protected].
