Mysuru: Manipal Hospital’s Manipal Health Summit – Parent Craft event, which was held recently, proved to be an empowering and informative experience for expectant parents and their families. The expert-led session, designed to guide parents through their pregnancy and beyond, aimed to foster informed, confident parenting through access to the latest medical expertise and holistic perspectives.
The event saw participation from over 80 participants, who were eager to learn from our leading Consultants – Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dr. K.G. Amulya and Dr. Shaheen Akhtar, and Consultant – Paediatrics Dr. U. Bhuvaneshwar, alongside specialists in physiotherapy, dietetics and lactation. The event covered a wide range of topics, right from expert insights to practical guidance and educational materials about pregnancy, childbirth, and early childcare to support families and expectant mothers through the exciting journey of parenthood.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Amulya said, “It was very inspiring to see so many expectant mothers and their partners taking the time to prepare for this important phase of life called parenthood. We hope our session has eased their worries and equipped them with the confidence they need.
Dr. Shaheen Akhtar remarked, “Our aim was to offer holistic guidance and support to help parents-to-be feel supported, confident and prepared. The high-level of engagement and thoughtful questions from participants reaffirmed the need for such initiatives to empower families and ensure healthy and informed pregnancies and also awareness about options of painless labour using TENS stimulation and epidural analgesia options highlighted to the new moms to be.”
Dr. U. Bhuvaneshwar said, “The key aspects of newborn care include feeding, infection prevention and health monitoring. Through this summit, we ensured new parents are aware and care for their newborn through practical tips.”
The summit also involved practical demos of pregnancy exercises by physiotherapist and discussions on healthy dietary habits and demo of healthy recipes by a dietician. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask about different delivery options, such as vaginal delivery, C-sections and epidurals analgesia during labour. The interactive session created a supportive environment where participants felt empowered and informed.
