‘Pass Women Reservation Bill’

September 26, 2017

Mysuru: Former State Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa has urged the Centre to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill that provides 50 percent reservation for women.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Manjula Manasa said that the Women’s Reservation Bill has been kept in cold storage by the Centre. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a number of times to pass the Bill. Now, the PM should get the Bill passed in the forthcoming Parliamentary Session, she said.

Claiming that the Prime Minister’s pet slogan ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padau’ would become more meaningful if the Women’s Reservation Bill is passed in Parliament, she said the passing of the Bill will enable women to get equal opportunities in politics.

Congress leaders Nandini Chandrashekar, Radhamani Rajegowda, Latha Mohan, Susheela Sunder Raj and others were present at the press meet.
