Pathetic condition of city roads

Apathy of MCC authorities and elected reps

Sir,

For the past few weeks I have seen a number of letters in this column about the pathetic conditions of roads in most parts of the city including my letter “Make Mysuru city roads free of pits and potholes before Dasara” (Star of Mysore dated Sept. 6). But it seems that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities have turned a blind eye to these complaints.

Even the local Corporators, MLAs and MP are keeping quiet. Are the officials and the people’s reps not commuting and experiencing the hardships via these roads like any other motorist? Are they so insensitive or apathetic to the voice raised by the people who elected them? This shows their callous attitude.

Recently I heard that a motorist fell down while commuting on the road opposite to Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering because of the bad condition of the road.

Is it not the responsibility of the concerned authorities and local politicians to make these roads motorable?

I sincerely appeal to the authorities and also elected people’s representatives to address this issue with top priority.
