Pawn broker flees with pledged gold, silver worth crores of rupees

Mysore/Mysuru: A pawn broker has cheated his customers of crores of rupees by allegedly fleeing with gold ornaments and silver articles that were pledged by the customers. The pawn broker, who has fled the city along with his family members is 50-year-old Nemiram, Proprietor of Maruthi Pawn and Jewellery Shop at Vivekananda Nagar.

Nemiram, since about eight years, has been conducting business at the shop and was providing money to customers after receiving gold and silver from those who were in need of money.

It is also alleged that Nemiram had taken money from three persons after getting a sale agreement of his house in Srirampura done in their names and had also taken money from another person after registering his house in the person’s name. But on Monday night, Nemiraj has fled from the city along with his family members and pledged gold and silver, it is learnt. Kuvempunagar Police are investigating the case.
