Pejawar Seer will have to vacate Mutt on supporting Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution: Prof. Champa

November 27, 2017

Mysuru: Pejawar Seer will be asked to vacate the Mutt if he agrees with the Constitution written by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, said writer Prof. Chandrashekar Patil (Champa) here yesterday.

He was speaking during the interaction programme with Sammelana President organised as a part of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Maharaja’s College Grounds in city.

Reacting to a question posed by Ramesh Hirejumbora on Pejawar Seer’s disagreement with Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution, Champa said that Pejawar Seer has been an undisputed personality for the past 40-50 years and a part of 5,000 year history and tradition and if he does not follow his religion, the devotees will ask him to leave the Mutt.

“Let us not discuss the matter further and waste our energy. We are interested only in our Constitution and its principles,” he added.

When asked as to why he had batted for the secular parties during his Presidential address, Prof. Champa posed a reverse question asking whether the event organised to discuss only literature adding then why were sessions being organised on science and technology, education and other subjects.

Answering to one of Rajashekar Kadamba’s questions, Champa said he would soon release his three plays which have been written keeping in mind the developments in the modern world.

Reacting to a question on delay in implementation of Sarojini Mahishi Report, he said that though it was mentioned to provide education in Kannada language during the Gokak Movement it has not been implemented completely. With respect to Sarojini Mahishi Report, Champa mentioned that the matter had been brought to the notice of CM Siddharamaiah. On digitalisation of books, Champa said that at time when book reading is decreasing, the best option to make children read books is through digitalisation books.
