Pensioners Day Celebrated

Mysuru: The Railway Pensioners Welfare Association (RPWA), Mysuru, celebrated Pensioners Day on Dec.17. More than 120 pensioners and family pensioners participated in the programme.  

Association President G. Arumugam spoke about the origin of pension payment and the historic judgement given by the Supreme Court that the pension is a right of the employees and not a gift, considered as properly under the Constitution.

Parthasarathy, retired Finance Manager and Working Committee Member of RPWA, gave a detailed account and said pension is a social security to the Government employees at their old age.

C.G. Krishna, General Secretary, explained about the various Pay Commissions.

C.S. Swaminathan, Vice- President, said that the RPWA is recognised by the Government of India in Railways over South India and it is an honour for our Association.

Treasurer A. Dyavanna proposed a vote of  thanks.
