This is to bring to your notice a very pleasant experience I had during my visit to K.R. Hospital recently along with my hearing impaired son for processing the disability certificate-cum-identity card for the child. When we entered the compound, we saw hundreds of people standing in queues for Out Patient (OP) slips and there was not an inch of space in the corridors. Emergency cases were also pouring in frequently in ambulances with blaring sirens. I had almost decided to go back.
Somehow, I decided to try and enquired in the Medical Superintendent’s (MS) office. The young man manning the cabin gave us clear directions to ENT department. As we reached the place, there were also long queues. But they directed us to the last cabin in the corridor, where a soft spoken junior lady doctor told us to wait for 15 minutes.
Just after 5 minutes we were called inside and she verified all the documents and medical reports, filled the required columns and directed us to Senior Professor Dr. Maradesh’s cabin. Once we reached his cabin in the queue, he smiled at us and asked the purpose. He went through the documents, verified the filled up details and signed in five different pages as required.
His assistant sitting nearby affixed official stamps and returned it to us. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes!. Pleasantly surprised, we thanked Dr. Maradesh and proceeded to OP section to get the Physician’s signature. The OP section corridor was still jam-packed with patients, and also a TV channel anchor interviewing the patients. There we could see Physician Dr. Srinivas interacting with the TV crew and the patients. When the doctor got a little free, my son approached him and showed the documents.
Dr. Sreenivas still standing in the corridor, briskly went through the documents, signed there itself and smiled lovingly at the child. After thanking him, we went to the MS office, where the clerk named Ramesh collected the documents and asked us to come next day morning, as the Superintendent was not available. Next morning, I was in for a pleasant surprise as Ramesh had got the card fully processed with the signature of Medical Superintendent.
Kudos to the doctors and staff of K.R. Hospital who are serving hundreds of patients smilingly and keeping very positive and helping attitude, a far cry from the experience I have had in the past in another so-called premier institution in city where I used to take my child.
