The following students, who carried out research at CSIR-CFTRI between Jan. 1 and Mar. 31, 2025, have been awarded Ph.D degrees from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR):

M.R. Krishna Prashanth: Thesis – Cost effective production and characterisation of bioactive pigment from marine bacteria; Supervisor – Dr. Mohan A. Dhale, Principal Scientist, Department of Microbiology & Fermentation Technology, CSIR-CFTRI.

T. Tamilselvan: Thesis – Studies on development of gluten free bakery product using millets and its validation; Supervisor – Dr. P. Prabhasankar, Chief Scientist, Department of Flour Milling, Baking & Confectionery Technology, CSIR-CFTRI.

Tanzeem Meher: Thesis – Bioprocessing of red & black rice varieties for nutraceutical enrichment & their quality characteristics; Supervisor – Dr. A. Jayadeep, Chief Scientist, Dept. of Grain Science & Technology, CSIR-CFTRI.

S. Shree Raksha: Thesis – Preparation and characterisation of quinoa bran protein concentrate and evaluation of anti-proliferative activity in hepatocellular carcinoma cells; Supervisor – Dr. Sachin M. Eligar, Principal Scientist, Department of Traditional Foods & Applied Nutrition, CSIR-CFTRI.

Bhavya Kotnala: Thesis – Nutritional status and disease management of Phenylketonuria using plant based phenylalanine free protein hydrolysate; Supervisor – Dr. V. Arun Kumar, Sr. Scientist, Dept. of Fruit and Vegetable Technology; Co-supervisor – Dr. P. Vijayaraj, Principal Scientist, Dept. of Biochemistry, CSIR-CFTRI.

Steji Raphel: Thesis – Identification of the biosynthetic gene involved in the synthesis of the peptide antibiotic of Bacillus licheniformis MCC 2514 and its application as a probiotic; Supervisor – Dr. Prakash M. Halami, Chief Scientist, Dept. of Microbiology & Fermentation Technology, CSIR-CFTRI.

Priya Mondal: Thesis – Dietary Epigenetic Modulators as Adjuvant Therapy against Lung Cancer: Development of Healthy Gut Formulation for Lung-Gut Homeostasis; Supervisor – Dr. M. Syed Musthapa; Sr. Principal Scientist, Dept.  of Biochemistry, CSIR-CFTRI.

K. Sanjay: Thesis – Inhibitor Selectivity Towards Pancreatic Lipase and Fatty Acid Binding Proteins for Reducing Fat Digestion and Absorption; Supervisor – Dr. D. Usharani, Sr. Principal Scientist, Department of Food Safety & Analytical Quality Control Laboratory, CSIR-CFTRI.
