Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru District Photographers and Videographers Association has urged the Government to announce a financial package for photographers and videographers as they are facing a financial crisis with no work and income due to COVID-induced lockdown.
In a press release, Association President P. Mahesh said that the Government last week announced a package for the working class which is hard hit by the lockdown.
But in the absence of any functions, ceremonies, events and other programmes, the photographers and videographers too have been thrown out of work, resulting in loss of income, he noted.
Maintaining that there are 2,000 photographers and videographers in Mysuru city and another 2,000 in rural parts of the district, Mahesh pointed out that the Labour Board had listed photographers and videographers in Unorganised Sector in 2012-13.
But the Government seems to have ignored this fact in the announcement of the package, he said.
He appealed the Government to come to the rescue of photographers and videographers, who are left without any other source of livelihood, by announcing a financial package on the lines of the one that was announced by the Chief Minister for other categories of the Unorganised Sector.
