Pinjrapole type of shelter planned for stray dogs: MLA

July 28, 2018

Mysuru: MLA S.A. Ramdas has assured to set up a Pinjrapole type of shelter for stray dogs after holding discussions with the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner.

This promise comes following the increasing stray dog menace in the city. He undertook a padayatra recently visiting the wards in K.R. Constituency that includes wards 1, 4 and 51 comprising Agrahara, Ramanuja Road and other places. He also interacted with the residents and received their complaints.

Later, speaking to the media he said that there were several complaints from these areas regarding increase of stray dog menace. According to Prevention of Cruelty to Animal rules the dogs should be spayed, vaccinated and released in the same locality.

Hence, he said, he would discuss with the MCC Commissioner regarding setting up a centre on the lines of Pinjrapole (where stray cattle is housed) in government land.

One Dr. Chandrashekar, in order to stop the mosquito menace and spreading of the disease filled the open tanks  in Government Hospitals with water and released Guppy fish which in turn ate the larva laid by mosquitoes. This has resulted in the reduction of mosquito menace, he said.

Similarly, he suggested to the officials to grow Ayurvedic plants in government hospital premises. He also said that the hospital will be upgraded under the Central Government scheme and more beds added.

Ramdas directed the officials to immediately set right the problems of drinking water and clean toilets in the Ambale Annaiah Government PU College on Chamaraja Double Road where there are a large number of girl students.

There are lot of old houses in Khille Mohalla and due to rains they are damaged and the solution is to see that a proper drainage system is built to drain the rainwater.

Added to this the bus shelter on Chamaraja Double Road should be shifted a little back so that it will help the commuters to board the bus easily, he told the officials.

Thyagaraja Road is very narrow and since the Sai Baba temple is located there it becomes congested on Thursdays as lot of devotees visit the temple  on that day thus creating traffic snarls. Hence, the Police have decided to make it one way, the MLA said.

In the coming days feeder pillar boxes will be installed on all the roads in K.R. Constituency limits thus making it wireless, he said.
