Piteelu Chowdiah Music Festival

Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of the 125th Birth Centenary of renowned violinist Mysore T. Chowdiah, Ganabharathi, in collaboration with SPVGMC Trust (Sri Prasanna Vidya Ganapathi Mandali Charitable Trust) has organised a day-long music festival on Jan. 10. Different artistes will be presenting compositions of T. Chowdiah during the occasion. The schedule is as follows:

10 am: Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar will present a vocal recital. Vocal support by Medha Manjunath, violin by Vid. C.N. Tyagarajan and mridanga by Vid. G.S. Ramanujan.

10.45 am: Vid. Vinay Sharva will sing and he will  be                                   accompanied on violin by Vid. Krithik Koushik and on mridanga by Vid. Dr. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy.

11.30 am: Vidu. Manasi Prasad will perform accompanied on violin by Vid. Krithik Koushik and on mridanga by Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy.

12.15 pm: Vid. Vivek Sadasivam presents T. Chowdiah’s compositions. He will  be accompanied on violin by Vid. Krithik Koushik and Vid. Kumaraswamy on mridanga.

2 pm: Vid. Manasa Nayana will perform. He will be accompanied on violin by Pruthvi Bhaskar and on mridanga by Vid. Hanumantharaju.

2.45 pm: Vidu. Dr. Padmavathi Narasimhan will present a lecture-demonstration ‘Piteelu Chowdiah’s contribution to Karnatak Music.’

3.15 pm: Vidu. R.N. Srilatha presents some compositions of T. Chowdiah. She will be accompanied by Dr. Veena Suresh on violin and Mysore A. Radhesh on mridanga.

4 pm: Vid. A. Chandan Kumar, a renowned flautist, great grandson of T. Chowdiah, will render the compositions of Chowdiah. He will be accompanied on violin by Keshav Mohan Kumar and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on mridanga.

6 pm to 8 pm: Vid. Mysore M. Nagaraj and Vid. Mysore N. Kartik will render a violin recital. They will be accompanied on mridanga by Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar and Vid. Giridhar Udupa on ghata. 

The event will also be available live in Ganabharathi Facebook page and YouTube channel, according to a press release.
