Directs Bank to provide educational loan
A letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a deserving girl in town has helped her to pursue higher education which otherwise would have shattered her dreams.
Sarah, daughter of Abdul Iliyaz, an employee of MySugar here, on securing 83% in B.Com had sought admission for MBA course at PES College here but Iliyaz was unable to pay the fees. His application for an education loan with Central Bank of India was also turned down owing to his poor financial background.
On reading reports about the PM’s Office (PMO) responding to grievances of students, Sarah took courage to write a letter to Modi seeking his intervention to resolve her problem. She was surprised to receive a reply within 10 days. The PMO had asked the State Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Kuntia to take necessary steps to help the girl.
Speaking to the press here yesterday, Sarah said that Central Bank of India again refused to advance an education loan but Vijaya Bank honoured the PM’s letter and sanctioned Rs. 1.5 lakh loan. She assured to study hard and come up in career.
