Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru’s famed Sand Museum at the foot of Chamundi Hill has a new attraction — a sand replica of Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing Yoga. The ‘PM’ is performing ‘Parvatasana’ along with the logo of International Day of Yoga-2022 and different Surya Namaskara postures.
Sand artist M.N. Gowri has designed the artwork with the hope to encourage Mysureans to perform Yoga every day and also adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“PM Modi performing in Mysuru on the International Day of Yoga is the main inspiration behind the sculpture and the other aim is to spread a health-conscious message,” Gowri told Star of Mysore.
The PM’s sand replica is 5-ft high, 15-ft in length and 3-ft wide. The artwork has been cladded in a white dress and a tricolour Shalya. It took about three days for Gowri to complete the sand sculpture and one truckload of sand has been used. It is a 3-D art and needed specialised crafting as the vertical posture had to be set up.
“Yoga has such powerful effects on a person’s body that the ancient exercise can completely cure breathing problems and many COVID patients, who had lung disorders after the virus attack, have recovered fully after they began doing Yoga,” she added.
Entry to the Sand Museum was free on the occasion of IDY today (June 21).
