Police barricades no cure for all traffic ills

September 24, 2018

Sir,

We drive around various Police barricades on all roads. But what purpose do they serve other than increasing hazardous driving?

Our Police think that an obstruction in our path prevents speeding or accidents. It is not so. A barricade put up near Harsha Bar, Bogadi Main Road, has clearly indicated otherwise. More accidents have occurred while passing this unscientific barricade.

What we need is more alert and prompt Police and equally responsible drivers. Please don’t assume that a barricade alone is a cure for all traffic problems.

Nowhere have I seen such lopsided ideas, be it smallest country like Sri Lanka or Europe.

So I appeal to all like minded to urge law-makers to come up with a better way for safe driving.
