Police foil attempt to besiege Prof. Bhagawan’s residence

Mysore/Mysuru: In light of provocative statements made by writer and rationalist Prof. K.S. Bhagawan regarding Vokkaligas, an attempt was made this morning to besiege Bhagawan’s residence at Kuvempunagar.

In response to these remarks, members of the Mysuru and Chamarajanagar Districts’ Vokkaliga Sangha sought to lay siege to his residence, but the Police intervened to prevent any untoward incidents.

The protest was led by Satish and Corporator K.V. Sridhar, the office-bearers of the Sangha and over 50 people were present.

During the protest, a confrontation took place between the Police and the demonstrators, with the latter making fervent demands for the arrest of Prof. Bhagawan.

The protesters insisted on his immediate arrest, citing Bhagawan’s alleged attempts to divide society through derogatory comments about religions and religious practices. Additional Police personnel have been deployed around Prof. Bhagawan’s residence.

The Police led by Kuvempunagar Inspector Arun took the protesters under preventive arrest, before releasing them later.
