Police have done a good job: G.T. Devegowda

June 21, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that the Police have done a good job in the investigation of Renuka Swamy murder case in which popular actor Darshan is involved, Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) said that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself is shocked  at the way the brutal murder had taken place and has said that no one should speak in favour of the actor.

Speaking to press persons ahead of the meeting of officials from Hootagalli CMC and Bogadi, Srirampura, Kadakola and Rammanahalli Town Panchayats coming under Chamundeshwari Constituency, at Jaladarshini Guest House here this morning, GTD said that, those who have done wrong in the murder case, which has hit national headlines due to its brutality, should be severely punished.

Referring to Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar’s hint that he would be contesting the yet to be announced bypoll from Channapatna seat, following the resignation of H.D.Kumaraswamy, GTD asserted that Shivakumar would not contest the bypoll and the Deputy Chief Minister’s statement was only a political tactic.

Maintaining that he (GTD) has said this out of his long political experience, the Chamundeshwari MLA  noted that, Shivakumar was only speaking on behalf of his younger brother D.K. Suresh, who recently lost the LS polls from Bangalore Rural Constituency and who now intends to contest the Channapatna bypoll on a Congress ticket.

Channapatna bypolls

Contending that the Channapatna bypolls would be a hotly contested one, he said that JD(S) leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy has never said that he would contest the bypolls and it is the BJP-JD(S) coalition NDA leaders who will sit together and decide on the candidate. Observing that all bypolls will not always be in favour of the ruling party, he said , being the head of the JD(S) core committee head, he cannot say anything personally in respect of the party candidate for Channapatna bypolls.
