Police intervene to settle minor clashes

Mysuru: The polling was peaceful in city yesterday but for stray minor clashes which were quickly dissipated by timely intervention of Police.

JD(S) activists staged a protest in front of a polling booth in Ramabainagar coming under Chamundeshwari Constituency alleging that Gram Panchayat President Choodamani had entered the polling both after the closing time and came out after 30 minutes which was an offence.

SP Amit Singh, who arrived at  the spot, spoke to the polling booth officials and agents. He assured the protestors of initiating a legal action if a formal complaint was registered.

At a polling booth in Vasanthnagar, JD(S) activists staged a protest alleging that former Mayor Narayan and Corporator Jagadish were pressurising Pourakarmikas to vote for Siddharamaiah. The protestors were joined by JD(S) candidate and MLA G.T. Devegowda and others. Timely intervention by Police defused the situation.
