Police seize vehicle illegally transporting PDS rice

Mysuru: Acting on a tip off, the Kuvempunagar Police, in association with Food and Civil supplies department officials, have seized a Bolero pick up vehicle that was found illegally transporting 4,590 Kgs of Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) rice.

Food Inspector B.N. ShashidharNayak was in a Court on Sept. 30 as a witness in a case, when Kuvempunagar Police informed him about a vehicle illegally transporting PDS rice. Nayak joined the Police and intercepted the vehicle (KA-09-AB 9963) near University Layout on the Ring Road.

During inspection, it was found that the vehicle was illegally transporting 4,590 kgs of rice in 102 plastic bags, following which the vehicle was seized along with PDS rice. The Police arrested the vehicle driver Tanveer Hussain of K.R. Nagar and registered a case in this regard.
