Mysore/Mysuru: Poornima Ravi, a distinguished member of the Inner Wheel Club of Madikeri, Kodagu and Past President, has taken over as the District Chairman of Inner Wheel District 318 for the Centenary Year of the International Inner Wheel Movement.
Wife of reputed Orthopaedic Surgeon and Rotary PDG Dr. K. Ravi Appaji of Madikeri, Poornima Ravi was installed as the Centenary Chairman for the year 2023-24 in a ceremony held at Saptapadi Convention Hall in Mysuru recently by Preeti Gugnani, President of All India Inner Wheel Association.
Kavita Niyath, outgoing Inner Wheel Chairman, handed over the baton to Poornima Ravi.
During the event, Preeti Gugnani commended the work carried out by Inner Wheel members in District 318.
Inner Wheel District 318 encompasses eight revenue districts in Karnataka, including Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Udupi, Kodagu, Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada and Chamarajanagar.
With over 50 Clubs and nearly 1,900 members, who are professionals, business women and home-makers, Inner Wheel Dist. 318 plays a vital role in serving the community.
The International Inner Wheel theme for the Centenary year, “Shine a Light,” has been provided by the International IW President, Trish Douglas. 2023-24 is being celebrated worldwide as the Centenary year of the Inner Wheel Movement.
Poornima Ravi becomes only the third District Chairperson from Kodagu, following in the footsteps of late Minnie Bopaiya in 1982-83 and late Prema Calappa in 1988-89. It is a privilege for Madikeri to host the Inner Wheel Centenary Conference in December 2023.
