Portion of Senthil Kote at Srirangapatna crashes

November 17, 2021

Srirangapatna: A portion of the historic Senthil Kote at Srirangapatna built during the rule of Vijayanagara kings has collapsed due to incessant rains. While the top portion of the fort along with railings has collapsed, wide cracks are seen around the fort, threatening the structure.

Senthil Kote is a place where the annual Dasara wrestling competition is held and the collapsed portion is located towards the east of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Though the place is historically important, the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage has done little to save it and has only erected a signboard in front of the fort.
