Pourakarmikas stage demo seeking houses in Malalawad

July 9, 2019

Mysuru: Even as the MCC General Council discussed construction of 158 houses for Pourakarmikas at Malalawadi, MCC Pourakarmikas staged a demonstration in front of the MCC office here yesterday seeking construction of houses at Malalawadi itself and not shift them elsewhere.

Maintaining that MUDA had sanctioned one-and-a-half acre of land at Malalawadi for construction of houses for Pourakarmikas and even the Government had allotted Rs.20 crore for the purpose, the protesters alleged that some vested interests were protesting the construction of houses.

Wondering why there was opposition for the Pourakarmikas, who keep the city clean, to live in the midst of the city, the protesters urged the MCC to construct houses for them at Malalawadi itself.

Pourakarmika Association State President and former Mayor Narayana, City President N. Maara and other office-bearers led the protest.
