Mysuru: Even as CESC officials were inspecting Dasara illumination works last night, residents and businessmen were left frustrated by widespread and prolonged power cuts across the city.
Several neighbourhoods faced total blackouts that continued late into the night. In many central areas, power supply was restored only between 10 pm and 11 pm. Residents also complained of repeated fluctuations and intermittent power cuts.
Residents took CESC Chairman Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda and the officials to task over the frequent disruptions and sought accountability. They questioned the need for elaborate Dasara illumination when several parts of the city were struggling with basic power supply. He explained that power supply had failed in most parts of the State.
Residents, however, urged his team to ensure that power was available at least during the night. They also pointed to the disparity in supply, saying some commercial areas remained lit while adjoining residential areas and streetlights were without power for hours.
