The prize distribution of Power-lifting Championship – 2024 jointly organised by Mysuru Power-lifting Association and Apollo Gym was held at Hoysala Karnataka Bhavan on Narayana Shastry Road, here on Sunday.

Former MLA M.K. Somashekar, who distributed the prizes, said sports played a major role in keeping youths away from unhealthy practices and lifestyle.

Stating that youths played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the country, the former MLA expressed his concerns over a few youths who had taken to narcotics, alcohol and gambling and thus ending up their own lives.

“Youths should involve in sports and other activities which would boost their creativity and keep their body fit,” he added.

Gym Master Nagesh Rao, Trainers Bhaskar, Shahnawaz, Shivakumar, Supreeth, Sharath and others were present.
