Praja Party demands release of wage dues of daily wagers

January 4, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging that several outsourced employees attached to Mysuru Division of Forest Department have not been paid wages for eighteen months, the Karnataka Praja Party has urged the Government to immediately clear all wage dues.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, Party President B. Shivanna said that more than 150 workers, who also included women, were employed by the Forest Department on daily wage basis  years ago. But norms were not followed when these daily wagers were later considered as outsourced employees, which has led to problems. Also, these employees are getting a lesser wage than that  stipulated by the Government, he claimed.

Maintaining that Hunsur Division Forest Department has been paying the announced wages, he urged the Mysuru Division to follow Hunsur and pay the fixed wages and clear long pending wage dues to contract employees who have been serving the Department for years.

Party office-bearers B.R. Lokesh, G. Tara, P. Umesh and others were present at the press meet.
