Prajwal’s statement was distorted: H.D. Revanna

Hassan: Dismissing reports on his son Prajwal Revanna’s ‘suitcase culture’ remarks at an event at Hunsur on Thursday as totally false, former Minister and Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna has said that his son’s remarks were totally distorted to bring a bad name to the JD(S).

Addressing a press meet at Hassan IB here this morning, Revanna sought to clarify the controversy that has gained ground following Prajwal’s alleged ‘Suitcase politics’ remarks in Hunsur.

Maintaining that Prajwal had gone to Hunsur on Thursday following an invitation to take part in a SC/ST convention there, Revanna said Prajwal was drawn into a conversation by a local channel owned by Hunsur Congress MLA, when no other media persons were present.

Alleging that the local channel had done a good cut and paste job, by airing Prajwal’s remark on ‘suitcase culture’ made elsewhere targeting the Congress, Revanna said the channel had telecast the news only at 9 pm, when in fact Prajwal had attended the Hunsur meeting in the morning. In between this long gap of time, the channel did a cut and paste job to defame the JD(S), he alleged.

Asserting that Hunsur Congress MLA H.P. Manjunath and other State Congress leaders were doing all such things in a bid to curtail the growing popularity of JD(S), Revanna clarified that his wife Bhavani and son Prajwal have been directed by the party not to make any political comments in the future.

Claiming that ‘Suitcase culture’ is very much rampant in the Congress, Revanna said JD(S) Supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and State JD(S) President H.D. Kumaraswamy will alone finalise the list of party candidates for the 2018 Assembly polls.

MLAs from Hunsur H.S. Prakash, Shivalingegowda, H.K. Kumaraswamy and C.N. Balakrishna and others were present.
