Bengaluru: Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, has approached the High Court seeking quashing of the lower court orders not to alienate the land adjacent to the Regency Theatre, Mysuru.
A sessions court in Bengaluru has passed an injunction order against Pramoda Devi asking her not to alienate the property. However, she has moved the High Court, saying Rohini R. Manohar, a resident of Basaveshwaranagar, Bengaluru, has forged documentation, stating she (Rohini) had entered into an agreement with her late husband in February 2013.
According to Rohini, she had paid a sum of Rs. one crore to late Wadiyar to buy the land adjacent to the Regency Theatre, that is situated near the Mysuru Zoo. She claimed that the I-T Department had granted permission to sell the property. Rohini wrote to Pramoda Devi in March 2014 about the agreement, the payment made and the remaining amount of Rs. 9 crore to be paid as part of the sale.
Pramoda Devi said the documents of the agreement and the signature of her husband had been fabricated and forged. Rohini approached the lower court, which granted an injunction order restricting Pramoda Devi from alienating the property.
A division bench comprising Justice H.G. Ramesh and Justice John Michael Cunha ordered emergent notice to Rohini and adjourned the hearing to July 3.
Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, reacting to the news appearing in a section of the media, told Star of Mysore, “It is not a valid agreement that was entered between my late husband and Rohini. It was an alleged agreement that was entered into much later. However, I cannot comment on the matter, as it is subjudice.”
