Sir,
The two part Abracadabra titled ‘Google boss takes on NDTV Boss with elan’ (SOM dated Oct.22 and Oct.23) reminded me of the famous quote ‘Even though vanquished he could argue still’ by Oliver Goldsmith. This exactly indicates the predicament of NDTV chief Prannoy Roy who interviewed Sundar Pichai. Obviously, Prannoy Roy could not resist the temptation of repeatedly trying to draw Sundar Pichai to corner him to say something negative on Modi and his policies, particularly on use of Aadhar fearing revealing personal details and, of course, the EVMs that suddenly seem to take sides in BJP’s favour, religion, diversity etc.
To the chagrin of Roy, he miserably failed because Pichai could clearly see through Roy’s desperate game-plan. This has been the running theme eversince Modi-led NDA scored resounding victory in 2014 and more particularly humbled the much-touted Rahul-Akhilesh combine in UP Assembly polls.
Roy and his ilk that include media moguls, left intellectuals, political commentators, historians and Award Wapsi brigade et al starved of the spoils of office and the doles they enjoyed during more than 15 years of dynastic rule are now in the business of spreading canard resembling Goebbelsian propaganda.
I hold no brief for Modi but what interested me and gave me hilarious enjoyment was KBG’s exquisite and delicious comments laced with gentle sarcasm which were simply superb; sample this — ‘But the young antler with nimble foot gave slip to the salivating predator each time the prey is almost in its clutches.’
