‘Priyam Bhaaratam’: Music-dance extravaganza to mark Republic Day

January 22, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Naatya Sabha, Mysuru, has organised a music-dance extravaganza ‘Priyam Bhaaratam,’ based on patriotic themes on the occasion of Republic Day 2021, at Ganabharathi auditorium on Jan. 26 at 5.30 pm.

The main programme of the evening is a Dance-Drama titled ‘Vande Mataram’, choreographed, directed and presented by internationally renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Dr. Kripa Phadke and her disciples at Nrityagiri Performing Arts and Research Centre, Mysuru.

‘Vande Mataram,’ a dance-drama of unique style, is a three dimensional Opera. Depiction of the holy land Bharata (India) with its cultural, agricultural glory being one theme, followed by the entry of the British and their plans to rule the country being the second theme and then the struggle for Independence by patriots of lndia, being the third theme.

The only national song which became a slogan is ‘Vande Mataram’ for every Indian. India looks like his or her mother. India is a land of great divinity and abode of mother Goddess Maa Durga. This is interpreted as Bharat Maata.

No doubt this dance-drama creates ‘Rashtra Bhakti’ among all the audience. This unique opera is authored by K.S. Chandrashekar.

There will be a light music programme presented by Vid. Rao R. Sharath, accompanied by his co-artistes and an orchestra. He will present patriotic songs in Sanskrit and other languages.
