Prize winners of CATALYST-2024 Technical Quiz Competition

Mysuru: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Mysore Centre, in collaboration with SK Super TMT Steel, Bengaluru and the Civil Engineering Department at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, had organised CATALYST-2024, a unique technical quiz competition for final year Civil Engineering students recently at VVCE’s H. Kempegowda Sports Complex in city.

A total of 110 teams (220 students) were selected for the final competition based on their performance in a preliminary written quiz held on Oct. 25 at their respective colleges.

A total of 348 teams (696 students) from 16 Colleges across Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts competed in the preliminary round.

The finals of CATALYST-2024 was conducted in two stages.  Out of the 110 teams that took part in a written quiz, the top eight teams were selected for the final oral quiz conducted by Dr. G.S. Suresh, Chairman of CATALYST-2024 and Prof. S.S. Kanmani. It covered both Civil Engineering topics and General Knowledge. Cash prizes totalling Rs. 33,000 were awarded to the winners, runners-up, other qualifiers and audience.

B. Chethan and S. Manoj of VVCE were the winners while the first runners-up were V. Dhanush and S. Akshatha from The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru and the second runners-up were K. Yuktha Sriram and H.N. Suchitra from JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru.

S. Jahnavi, DCP (Crime & Traffic), was the chief guest at the inauguration of CATALYST-2024. Gundappa Gowda, President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Mysuru, presided. A.S. Upadhyaya, General Manager of SK Super TMT Steel, Bengaluru; Er. P. Vishwanath, Hon. Secretary of Vidyavardhaka Sangha; Shrishaila Ramannavar, Hon. Treasurer of Vidyavardhaka Sangha and Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal of VVCE, were the guests of honour during the inaugural.

Distinguished members from ACCE(I), Mysore Centre, including Dr. S. Raviraj, Chairman, Dr. G.P. Chandradhar, Secretary and Dr. Keerthi Gowda, Treasurer; Dr. G.S. Suresh, Chairman of CATALYST-2024, Dr. S.K. Prasad, Head of Civil Engineering at VVCE, Dr. Dilip Srinivas, Co-Chairman of CATALYST-2024, faculty members from VVCE and other institutions were present.
