Pro-Kannada outfit to take out awareness jatha in industrial areas

September 14, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike will take out a four-day Jagruti Jatha (Awareness Jatha), from Sept. 15 to 18 at the industrial areas of Mysuru, demanding the installation of name boards in Kannada, jobs for Kannadigas and basic infrastructural facilities for labourers.

Addressing press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavana in the city on Friday, State President of Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike, B.B. Rajashekar said, MLA G.T. Devegowda will flag off the rally on Sept. 15, that will pass through Hootagalli Industrial Area, Koorgalli Industrial Area, Hebbal Industrial Area and Metagalli Industrial Area.

Rajashekar said, the local Kannadigas are not provided jobs in factories, while those from the Northern States like- Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and others are considered for employment. Apart from doing harm to the environment, land and water, the locals are deprived of jobs. Those employed on daily wage basis are denied minimum pay, but are forced to work for 12 hours. While the permanent employees are provided quality food, the daily wagers are catered poorly.

Despite deducting employees share towards ESI and Provident Fund (PF), the factory managements are not depositing the same along with their share at the Department concerned. Amid no job security and safety, the factory workers are denied health facilities, rued Rajashekar.

Even though the State Government has made it mandatory to use 60 percent of Kannada words in name boards, the factory managements are blatantly violating the stipulated rule, said Rajashekar.

Vedike leader D.P.K. Paramesh, State treasurer Nanjunda, Mysuru District President of Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike Santosh, Women’s Wing President Manjula, Office-bearers Sindhuvalli Shivakumar, Manugowda and others were present.
