Prof. B.S. Pandit Memorial Concert ‘Saraswati’ in city on Nov. 18, 19

Mysore/Mysuru: Geetha Shishu Shikshana Sangha (GSSS), Mysuru, a premier education society, was founded by the well-known educationist and visionary, late Prof. B.S. Pandit, Founder-Secretary, GSSS. In his fond memory, B.S. Pandit Memorial Concert ‘Saraswati’ is organised by GSSS every year during Karthika Maasa since 2019, at GSSSIETW campus, Mysuru.

This year, GSSS is organising B.S. Pandit Memorial Concert ‘Saraswati’ at M. Govinda Rao Memorial Auditorium, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSS IETW), KRS Road, Mysuru, on Nov. 18 and 19.

The highlight this year is ‘Strings of Hope,’ a pre-concert interaction with students of Music from 5 pm to 6 pm on Nov. 18. To this interactive session, music students are invited to attend and the discussion will aim at demystifying Indian classical music.

Later, from 6.30 pm to 9 pm, a Jugalbandhi performance will be rendered by the renowned musicians.

Anil Srinivasan is a celebrated Piano performer, prestigious ‘Kalaimamani’ award winner from the Government of Tamil Nadu, Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for creative and experimental music from the Central Sangeet Natak Academy, Pride of Tamil Nadu by Round Table of India.

Jayanthi Kumaresh is a prominent veena artiste, ten-time recipient of the ‘Award for Veena’ by Music Academy, Chennai, ‘Kalaimamani’ by the Government of Tamil Nadu, also ‘Sangeet Shikar Samman’ award winner awarded by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Pramath Kiran, tabla performer, Best Percussionist 2009 from Percussive Arts Centre, Bengaluru and Kanchi Kamakoti Asthana Vidwamsa-2012 from Kanchi Mutt.

Trichy Krishna, an established ghata player, is an able teacher and has been training youngsters in order to share his knowledge with the younger generation.

On Nov. 19 from 11 am to 1 pm, Hindustani Music will be rendered by famous Hindustani vocalist Siddhartha Belmannu, a child prodigy, a young talented musician from Karkala, Udupi, with his team. He has worked with the multi-Grammy Award-winning Indian music composer and environmentalist Ricky Kej for many of his live concerts and projects on environmental awareness.

Pt. Ravindra Yavagal, tabla player, is the recipient of Rajyotsava award by Karnataka State Government in recognition of his talent and service rendered to the field of music.

Pt. Vyasmurti Katti, harmonium player, has given several performances in India and has visited countries like USA, Canada, France, Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Belgium and Oman to give concerts with eminent artistes.

Bus facility is available to concert venue from different parts of Mysuru city. Bus routes are as follows: 1. Krishna Dhama, T.K. Layout; 2. Ganabharathi, Kuvempunagar; 3. Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Lakshmipuram; 4. Javaregowda Park, Saraswathipuram; 5. Auto stand, Ramaswamy Circle; 6.    Vontikoppal, near Venkateshwara Temple; 7.    GSSS School, Siddarthanagar and 8. 8th Cross, V.V. Mohalla.

Pick up on Nov. 18 is at 4.30 pm and drop approximately at 9 pm. Pick up on Nov. 19 at 9.30 am and drop approximately at 1.30 pm.
