Mysuru: Vijayanagar Yoganarasimhaswamy temple Founder Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji was conferred with ‘Kannadambe Ratna’ State Award at a programme organised by Hootagalli’s Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike at Vijayanagar’s Yoganarasimhaswamy temple premises recently.
Speaking on the occasion, noted columnist Bannur K. Raju said that Bhashyam Swamiji has left his footmarks in spirituality through his vast and commanding knowledge of Vedas and Upanishad.
Pointing out that the Swamiji is generous in lending a helping hand to the needy, Raju said that though the Swamiji is a Sanskrit Scholar, he has contributed a lot for the enrichment of Kannada.
“If Bhashyam Swamiji was made the Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Sanskrit University, then he would have got many Sanskrit works translated to Kannada and vice-versa. It is unfortunate that no Government made him the Vice-Chancellor, which is a loss for both the languages,” he said, adding that the Government should make good use of the vast knowledge and contributions of the Swamiji.
Speaking after being conferred with the award, Bhashyam Swamiji said it is indeed a fortune that we are born as human beings. Maintaining that being born as humans is a big thing, he stressed on the need for humans to treat other living beings with humanity.
All religions preach humanity, kindness and peace. We must live in harmony by following religious principles and thus contribute positively for betterment of the world, he added.
Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike Founder President B.B. Rajashekar, office-bearers Nanjunda, Honnegowda, Ravigowda, Vishnu, Kiran, Srinivas and Bilikere Bhagya, Kannada activist D.P.K. Paramesh, former District Women’s Co-operative Bank Director H. Vasantha Munish, blood donor Manju and others were present.
